Holly’s LASIK Testimonial
At Kugler Vision in Omaha, Nebraska, we think of our patients like family, so it’s especially exciting when one of our very own decides to get LASIK. In fact, every single one of our staff members who is a candidate for LASIK has opted to have it right here at our office!
We spoke with Holly, a Kugler Vision LASIK patient and Kugler Vision’s marketing assistant. We followed her through her entire LASIK journey—from the consultation to her one-month post-op appointment. Below, Holly shares with us why she decided to follow in the footsteps of other Kugler Vision LASIK patients/employees and have the life-changing procedure. You can also watch Holly’s LASIK procedure on our Facebook page.
When did you first start to notice vision changes?
“I first starting noticing my vision changes when I was in college. I spent a lot of my time on a computer—as most college students do—but I also had a large number of computer classes because I was pursuing an education in graphic design and marketing. I would get headaches and just found myself having a hard time being able to see the board during my lecture classes.”
At Kugler Vision one of the most common vision problems we see is Myopia (nearsightedness). Like Holly mentioned, since college she has spent a large amount of time up-close to a computer screen. It’s important to note that although there are genetic and environmental causes of nearsightedness, one noticeable correlation is that increased up-close screen time seems to play a big factor. When our eyes are in the “zoomed in” mode that is necessary to focus on screens or objects that are within 4 to 5 feet for a long period of time it can cause vision problems down the road. Holly along with 3.4 billion other people have experienced this ever-growing vision problem.
Kugler Vision offers seven different vision correction procedures to help people change the way they see the world and help them get rid of the hassles of glasses and contact lenses. One of the most popular vision solutions is LASIK.
What motivated you to have LASIK?
“My biggest motivator was the financial side of it. I was paying for glasses, contacts, and eye doctor appointments out of pocket—hundreds and thousands of dollars a year. LASIK eliminated all of those recurring costs and gave me the freedom that glasses and contacts never could.”
Like Holly, many of the patients that we see investing in vision correction are doing it because of the money that it saves them in the long run. When looking at it from a cost standpoint, someone who requires vision prosthetics such as glasses or contacts can expect to spend an average minimum of $45,000 in their lifetime. That is over three times the amount you would spend on any of the seven advanced vision correction procedures offered at Kugler Vision in Omaha, Nebraska. So why do so many people put up with the frustrating and expensive lifetime option of glasses or contacts? Why do people accept the annual tests, new prescriptions, risk of infection and injury, and enormous ongoing financial commitment of these vision prosthetics when modern LASIK is affordable and safe?

How did you feel on procedure day?
“To be honest, on procedure day I was extremely excited! The entire Kugler Vision team was extremely supportive. Every one of them seemed just as excited for me as I was myself. Also, because I am part of the marketing department I have the fun job of documenting patient procedures to help them commemorate their big day so I knew logistically how the procedure went. After watching Dr. Kugler and the surgical staff in action so many times I knew I was in the best hands. All I had to do was show up and the rest was taken care of. In addition, the LASIK recovery was quick and I came to work the next day.”
Holly had a very low prescription and a slight astigmatism—these combined made her a great candidate for LASIK. At Kugler Vision we specialize in seven different vision correction procedures, so you can be confident the surgeon’s recommendation is tailored to your exact needs. The good new is, more people than ever before are candidates for LASIK or another vision correction procedure, due to incredible technology advancements. To find out if you’re one of them, take our 60 second self test. This vision quiz can help inform you of which procedures you’d likely qualify for, and are a great first step in your LASIK research. How do you think LASIK will change your life?
“LASIK has already changed my life so much and it’s only been one month! I no longer wake up reaching for my glasses and it feels so good. I just get out of bed and I can see! Everything is crisp and clear—even better than when I had glasses and contacts. LASIK has been such a transformative experience and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone who is ready to ditch their glasses and contacts.”
Is LASIK Right for You?
The vision correction procedure that most people know about is LASIK, and it’s one of the most popular options that we offer to correct vision. LASIK is a long-lasting vision solution that helps people see more naturally and frees them from the daily hassles of glasses and contacts so they can enjoy life to the fullest.
Today, about 40 percent of all people are dependent on glasses or contacts to see. That’s a lot of people renting their vision and settling for vision that is less clear than it could be. But the good news is that the vast majority of them qualify for one of the life-changing vision correction procedures we offer. You could be one of them!
