LASIK

When ocular maturity is reached, typically between ages 18-21, eye prescriptions stabilize and laser vision correction becomes an alternative to glasses and contacts. Laser vision correction reshapes the cornea – the front of the eye – to change its focusing power, resulting in clear vision. Laser vision correction is a permanent solution that helps you see more naturally and frees you from the daily hassles of glasses and contacts, so you can enjoy life to the fullest. The most common laser vision correction procedure is LASIK, however, Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and SMILE are great alternatives for patients who are not candidates for LASIK.

Key Benefits
  • Virtually painless
  • Quick recovery
  • Safer than contacts
  • Vision correction is permanent
  • Freedom from the hassles of glasses and contacts
  • Saves money
Candidates
  • Astigmatism
  • Myopia (nearsightedness)
  • Hyperopia (farsightedness)

SMILE Eye Surgery

SMILE eye surgery is a laser vision correction procedure that changes the shape of the cornea by extracting a corneal lenticule. LASIK is the most common laser vision correction procedure, but SMILE is the latest addition to available vision correction techniques. SMILE may also be an option for people who have been told in the past that they were not good candidates for laser vision correction.

Key Benefits
  • Comfortable
  • Quick recovery
  • Safer than contacts
  • Vision correction is permanent
  • Freedom from the hassles of glasses and contacts
Candidates
  • Myopia (nearsightedness)
  • Astigmatism

Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK)

PRK is a laser vision correction procedure that reshapes the cornea to improve vision. PRK is effective, safe, and has an extremely high patient satisfaction rate. While LASIK is the most common laser vision correction procedure, PRK is an excellent alternative to LASIK and commonly performed on patients who are found to not be LASIK candidates for a variety of reasons, such as having thin corneas.

Key Benefits
  • Virtually painless
  • Quick recovery
  • Safer than contacts
  • Vision correction is permanent
  • Freedom from the hassles of glasses and contacts
  • Excellent alternative for those who are not LASIK candidates
Candidates
  • Astigmatism
  • Myopia (nearsightedness)
  • Hyperopia (farsightedness)

EVO ICL

EVO ICL, also known as an implantable collamer lens, also gives you the freedom to see the world without the hassles of glasses and contact lenses. ICL is a removable lens implant that is a common alternative to LASIK and other refractive procedures.

Key Benefits
  • A removable option
  • Quick procedure and recovery
  • Freedom from the hassles of glasses and contacts
Candidates
  • Moderate to High Myopia (nearsightedness)
  • Astigmatism

Blended Vision

Blended vision is when laser vision correction is done in one eye, allowing you to see near and far without depending on any visual aids. Blended vision is an option for you if you are over 40 and you want to avoid reading glasses after laser vision correction. With blended vision, one eye is used for distance vision and the other eye is used for near vision. When both eyes are open, the brain can choose to use the distance-corrected eye to see far away and the near-corrected eye to see up close.

Key Benefits
  • Virtually painless
  • Quick recovery
  • Safer than contacts
  • Vision correction is permanent
  • Freedom from the hassles of glasses and contacts
  • Saves money
Candidates
  • Astigmatism
  • Myopia (nearsightedness)
  • Hyperopia (farsightedness)
  • Dysfunctional Lens Syndrome (DLS) Stage 1 (Presbyopia, difficulty reading)

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

As we enter our 40s, we begin to experience near vision problems due to changes in our eyes’ lenses, and may develop the need for reading glasses and bifocals. This is a completely natural part of the aging process that happens to all of us. RLE is a procedure that replaces the dysfunctional lens with a technologically advanced lens. With one simple procedure, the prescription is corrected, it improves the yellowing, distorted lens, and prevents any future development of cataracts.

Key Benefits
  • Prevents any future development of a cataract
  • Helps you see both near and far
  • Reduces any astigmatism
  • Reduces dependency on reading glasses and bifocals
  • Permanent solution that lasts a lifetime
Candidates
  • Astigmatism
  • Myopia (nearsightedness)
  • Hyperopia (farsightedness)
  • Dysfunctional lens syndrome (DLS) stage 1 and stage 2 (presbyopia, difficulty reading)
