Overview of EyeAnalysis™
At Kugler Vision, we believe everyone should start traveling the path toward clear vision without glasses and contact lenses. That’s why, for every new patient, regardless of age, we begin with the most comprehensive vision assessment and evaluation available in Nebraska.
The path to visual freedom starts with education. Our VisionTrack EyeAnalysis™ is more than an eye exam. EyeAnalysis™ provides us with the highest level of data possible. These detailed data allow us to map and understand your visual system. We will then explain your results in detail, formulate a long-term plan, and discuss the outcomes you can expect. That long-term plan is your personalized VisionTrack™.
What Happens at Your VisionTrack EyeAnalysis™ Appointment
Using our state-of-the-art technology and processes, we will conduct an approximately 90-minute analysis of all aspects of your vision and eye health. These results will allow us to determine your best treatment options – your VisionTrack™ personalized care plan – which will result in your best vision, now and in the future.
This evaluation includes:
Automated and manual refraction: Multiple tests and techniques will be used to measure your eyeglass and/or contact lens prescription. You may be familiar with some of the tests in this segment from your past comprehensive eye exam.
Corneal Topography and Tomography: This technology provides detailed data about the curvature and shape of the cornea, the front surface of the eye. It screens for conditions known to affect this surface.
Wavefront Aberrometry and Ray-Tracing Analysis: This technology maps the path of light rays as they travel through the eye. It provides detailed analysis of the eye’s focusing ability and helps determine ways to correct focusing disorders.
Corneal pachymetry: The thickness of the cornea will be analyzed in detail. This is an important tool to screen for conditions related to the front surface of the eye, such as keratoconus or Fuchs’ corneal dystrophy.
LipiView Tear Film Analyzer (if needed): This test provides the most accurate analysis of dry eyes by measuring several aspects of your tear film.
Endothelial Spectroscopy: The innermost layer of the cornea, the endothelium, will be magnified to determine the shape and number of cells. This is a unique layer that does not divide or replicate, which means the current cells are irreplaceable. That is why it is important to monitor – to ensure contact lens use or corneal diseases aren’t altering these cells.
Anterior and Posterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): This test provides a digital image of the front and back of the eye. This allows the doctor to evaluate the structures of the cornea, lens, and retina, the sensory portion of the eye, at a microscopic level. The very precise measurements screen for and detect ocular diseases early.
Slit Lamp Exam: A Kugler Vision doctor will use a high-powered microscope to examine the structures of your eye in detail. This HD view allows the doctor to screen for conditions that affect the front, middle, and back of the eye – like pinkeye, allergies, diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
Optical Biometry: Precise light measurements are used to determine the dimension or length of your eye. Taking these measurements now allows the doctor to track the growth of the eye in relation to your eyeglass correction change. In our younger patients, this information may be plotted on a growth curve, which is similar to the growth charts commonly used by pediatricians.
HD Analyzer: This exam measures how light scatters as it enters your eyes. These high-definition scans measure quality of vision and predict their best visual acuity, or 20/20 measurement. This technology identifies conditions that affect focusing quality from front to back of the eye.
During each test phase, we will explain the purpose of the test and what we are looking for. The combination of all this technology results in the most comprehensive eye health analysis available in the region – normally valued well above $500. After testing, you will spend one-on-one time with our physicians, who will discuss your results in detail, answer any questions you may have, and explain your VisionTrack™ personalized eyecare plan for the future.
