Kugler Vision to Perform Nebraska’s first KAMRA inlay procedures
Published by on October 5, 2015
New FDA approved treatment to reduce need for reading glasses after age 40. This Wednesday, October 7, Kugler Vision in Omaha, NE will perform the state’s first KAMRA inlay procedures. The KAMRA inlay is a small device implanted in the clear front surface of the eye. The Omaha ophthalmology practice seeks to reduce the frustration of reading glasses with this revolutionary treatment for age related near vision loss– a condition that affects everyone as they progress into their 40s.
Near vision loss is commonly cited as one of the most frustrating aspects of aging. This near vision loss, called “presbyopia,” affects all people as they enter their 40s and 50s. The lens of the eye becomes less flexible over time, compromising the eye’s ability to focus up close. This results in dependence on reading glasses or bifocals. This condition currently affects over 1 billion people worldwide.
For active and “on the go” people who are used to being visually independent, this sudden reliance on reading glasses is a source of frustration and decreases quality of life. Through use of the KAMRA inlay procedure, millions of people can be freed from their dependence on reading glasses.
An Omaha native, Lance Kugler, MD has strong ties to the community and is pleased to bring this life-changing technology to the area: “Improving near vision after age 40 is the last frontier in vision correction technology. The KAMRA inlay is the first treatment specifically for this problem.
At Kugler Vision our mission is to remain on the forefront of scientific advancements that improve our patients’ lives, and we are excited to be the first practice in Nebraska to offer this new near-vision technology.” The KAMRA inlay was approved by the FDA in April, 2015 and has been implanted over 20,000 times worldwide.
Lance Kugler, MD is available to the media to speak further on this exciting technology and the lifestyle benefits it provides.
