Read the vision correction testimonial of our very own Mollie Hiatt, OD
Mollie Hiatt, OD, is a proud native Nebraskan. She grew up in Grand Island. After completing her undergraduate education at the University of Nebraska Omaha, Dr. Hiatt enrolled in the Indiana University School of Optometry. After completing optometry training, she was excited to return to Omaha, where she currently serves the metro and surrounding communities as Kugler Vision’s leading optometrist.
Dr. Hiatt was able to achieve her best possible vision with the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL).

Life with Glasses and Contacts
“I received my first pair of glasses in the second grade. I was a very active kid. In turn, my glasses were always getting out of place and in need of an adjustment.
In fifth grade, I switched to wearing contact lenses. My eyes have a very curvy outer surface, so it was very difficult finding contacts that were comfortable and fit correctly. Even after I tried nearly every brand of contacts over the years, they still seemed to pop out every now and then – and always at the most inconvenient times! One of the worst places was when I was skiing in Colorado last year. Midway down a run, my right contact fell out. Thankfully, I had goggles on to catch it and I didn’t have to sit out the rest of the day.
Vision Correction – The ICL Procedure
The final thing that pushed me to get out of contacts was when one of my contact lenses fell out in front of a patient. I was so embarrassed and ready for a different solution.
The best refractive procedure for my eyes was an ICL or Implantable Collamer Lens. An ICL is a soft lens that is inserted into the eye between the iris and the natural lens. The ICL bends the light to focus it perfectly on the retina, allowing me to see clearly without glasses or contacts.
Life After ICL
I love my vision after ICLs and I truly don’t miss having contact lenses. I no longer have the additional worry about my own eyes and vision when examining your eyes and doing and seeing the things I love.”
