Break Up with Your Contacts
Published by on February 14, 2017
Kiss Contacts Goodbye. Fall In Love With LASIK.
Dear Contacts,
Oh where do I begin? It all started off so great. We were a good match when I was younger. We had some good times, shared a few laughs. But we’ve grown apart. Our relationship went south when you started to make my eyes feel dry. You make my eyes water. I don’t even KNOW how many artificial tears I’ve had to use just to get through each day together. Now that I’m older, we both know that the time has come. We need to break up.
I am moving on with LASIK vision correction. LASIK allows me to be myself – free and independent. Contacts, you’re just too high maintenance for me. I’m breaking free from your daily morning and evening routine. I’m also tired of spending money on you and getting nothing but hassles in return. You made allergy season the worst and you seemed to always find a way to spoil my time at the pool, exercising at the gym, going for a morning jog, and traveling. The list goes on and on!
We tried to make it work, but we just aren’t good fit anymore. This has been a long time coming. I only wish I would have moved on to LASIK sooner.

You Can Treat or Prevent Contact Lens Intolerance
One of today’s most uncomfortable, painful, and yet underdiagnosed issues facing those with vision problems is Contact Lens Intolerance (CLI). CLI is the medical term used to describe the process in which the eye begins to reject contact lenses. Contact lenses are a foreign body on the eye, and eventually, the eye will no longer tolerate it. Contacts tend to restrict airflow to the eye, and to trap allergens and other irritants close to the eye. Poor contact lens habits like sleeping in lenses, using lenses too long before replacing them, or neglecting to clean them properly can speed or worsen the development of CLI. CLI is a condition that gets progressively worse over time. Eventually those who suffer with CLI cannot wear contact lenses for any period of time without discomfort or pain. At that point, they must either resort back to glasses or make a change by correcting their vision with LASIK.
Glasses come with their own restrictions and daily hassles. Especially when they fog while wearing a mask. The best, safest, and most convenient way to treat CLI is by removing the source of the problem– the need for contact lenses! We see many people every day who are ready to make the LASIK leap and say goodbye to contact lenses. Inevitably they love the LASIK life and there’s no looking back! The most common feedback we get from our LASIK patients is “wow, I wish I’d done that sooner!”
If you’re experiencing the following symptoms, it’s time to book a VisionTrack Assessment with our experts to find out if you may be suffering from CLI.
CLI symptoms:
- Itching while wearing contacts
- Burning sensation
- Dryness
- Foreign body sensation in the eye
- Redness or pain when wearing contact lenses
