  • The FDA has approved LASIK for people over age 18, though a careful and thorough evaluation is required for anyone, at any age, to determine whether LASIK is the best option for you.

2) Is the cost of LASIK worth it in the long run?

  • If price is your primary concern, then you should consider how much you spend every year on glasses, contact lenses, solution, or maybe even extra items like prescription sunglasses or goggles. 3) How long does LASIK last? Do I need to have it again later?

  • LASIK treatment is designed to last a lifetime, and in most cases that holds true. However human eyes heal at different rates, so for a small percentage of patients an enhancement procedure is needed in the future. Dr. Kugler use sophisticated techniques and technology (including DataLink nomogram software) to reduce the chance of needing an enhancement procedure. These efforts have resulted in an overall enhancement rate between 3-5% for our patients.

4) Can I have LASIK when I’m pregnant?

  • Pregnancy may affect vision in various ways. The glasses prescription may change during pregnancy due to a change in hormones as well as body fluid shifts. These temporary changes mean that the measurements required before LASIK are not as accurate in pregnant women. Therefore, we refrain from performing any type of eye surgery during pregnancy. 5) Will I need reading glasses after LASIK?

  • Everyone, regardless of whether or not they have had LASIK, experiences a decrease in their ability to see up close once they enter their 40s. This is due to a condition called Presbyopia.
