Meet the Kugler Vision Staff

Sue Tomanek We think it’s time you got to know our staff a little bit more! Each month we, at Kugler Vision in Omaha, NE will highlight one staff member just for you! Sue Tomanek is this month’s lucky staff member. She has been with the practice for 14 years, and has always served our patients with exceptional helpfulness. As the first person you see when you walk through our doors, her bright and friendly face will welcome you and make you feel comfortable and confident in trusting us with your vision care. She took time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions. Read her responses to get to know her more!
If you could describe yourself in one word, what would that be?
- Outgoing
What are your hobbies?
- My hobbies are crafting with the grandkids and traveling.
How do you recharge?
- To recharge I take a nice drive on a peaceful country road.
If you were to tell one person “ Thank You” for helping me become the person I am today, who would it be and what did they do?
- I couldn’t pick just one, it would have to be both my Mom and Dad. They taught me the importance of hard work, morals and to treat people with respect, always be honest, and follow your heart!!!
What’s the most important lesson you have learned this past year?
- The most important lesson I have learned this past year is to not sweat the small stuff. Change is GOOD!!!
What movie or novel do you most identify with?
- Its a toss up! It would be between “Gone with the Wind” and “Twister”.
When are you the happiest?
- I am the happiest when I am with family and friends.
What kind of impact do you believe you have on people?
- Hopefully a positive one!!!
What one memory do you most treasure?
- There is not just one that I can pinpoint–but it would be just growing up on a farm with my family–always good times!!!
What superpower would you like to have?
- If I could have any superpower, I would like to see the future.
If you ruled the world, what would you change on Day 1?
- If I ruled the world, I would make it possible for there to be no sickness.
How do you think your coworkers see you?
- I believe that my coworkers see me as friendly and upbeat all the time.
If you could eat only one food on a desert island, what would it be?
- It would have to be watermelon.

Lance Kugler, MD, is a specialist in LASIK and vision correction surgery and CEO of Kugler Vision. A proud Omaha native, he is passionate about improving lives through clear vision. Dr. Kugler serves on several national boards, and his practice is recognized internationally as a center of excellence. Dr. Kugler is one of the original founders of the Refractive Surgery Alliance, an international organization comprised of over 350 of the world’s leading vision correction surgeons; he also served as its first president. In 2019, Dr. Kugler was selected as a TEDx speaker, and delivered a talk in Omaha about the worldwide epidemic of nearsightedness and refractive solutions. Dr. Kugler is an Associate Professor of Refractive Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Truhlsen Eye Institute, has been published in many medical journals, and participates in numerous clinical studies to advance the field of vision correction surgery. Additionally, Dr. Kugler is proud to be a Board Certified Fellow of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences. Dr. Kugler and his wife are proud parents to five active kids. When he has a spare moment, he enjoys skiing, tennis, travel, and fine coffee.
