Give Your Grad the Gift of Sight!
Published by on April 11, 2016
As your graduate looks ahead to the future, make sure they can see clearly with corrected vision
Your kids are ready for LASIK vision correction when their eyes stabilize – typically around age 18-21. That’s right in time for high school or college graduation. At Kugler Vision in Omaha, NE, we strongly believe in the health, lifestyle, and economic benefits of vision correction. Everyone is entitled to a life without glasses and contact lenses, and you can help begin your graduate’s path to visual freedom with us. Make it special by giving them the gift of clear sight. With no more glasses or contacts, they will be free to experience the world without visual barriers. In a recent study, 76 percent of millennials said they were likely to have vision correction like LASIK. So why not give them that gift for their graduation milestone? And with the tens of thousands of dollars they’ll save over the years without the ongoing cost of glasses and contacts, you’ll be helping them financially, too. LASIK truly is the gift that keeps on giving.
Better Now Than Later
Young adulthood, ages 18-40, is the best time to have vision correction. And the earlier someone has LASIK, the longer they have to enjoy the benefits. At Kugler Vision, we are dedicated to providing all our patients with the most advanced technology and treatment options available. Vision correction leads to a higher quality of life. Let’s take a look at a few reasons why:
- No More Glasses
- No More Contacts
- Save Money
- Enjoy Life More
- Safer Vision with LASIK
- Healthier Eyes
Enhance Their Post-Graduate Life!
Not only does vision correction lead to a higher quality of life, it also leads to a lifetime of greater and more memorable experiences.
Safety – Young adults have the highest risk for contact-lens infections. During college, and the years following, young adults stay up late, share living space with other people, and cut corners to save money on things like contact lens solution or renewing their disposable contact lenses. The risk of infections is much higher than average during these years.
Traveling – After graduation, is your child planning to take a senior trip? If they have glasses and contact lenses and don’t properly care for them while traveling, that can complicate their travels. The daily maintenance required with contact lenses becomes even more of a burden when traveling. Many people resort to glasses while traveling because of the extra care contact lenses require. They always need a backup pair of contacts and glasses, in case of an eye infection, dry eyes, a contact tearing, or losing a contact. Traveling with glasses can be a struggle as well. What if they are lost or damaged during the trip? Your child would have to know their prescription and buy a new pair or go the rest of the time not being able to see clearly.
Imagine your child never having to pack and manage extra contact lenses, solution, and a backup pair of glasses again. LASIK gives your child freedom to just get up and go at a moment’s notice.
Swimming – When your child goes to the pool or to the beach, they have three options for their eyes. The first is to swim with no glasses or contacts. Everything is blurry, and it’s hard to see and find their friends. The second option is to wear contacts. This is not ideal either because they have to deal with sticky lenses, lost lenses, and possibly suffer an eye infection. (Contacts worn while swimming must be replaced with a new pair to reduce risk of an eye infection.) The third option is to wear glasses and hope they don’t get lost in the water, and to somehow try and keep them dry the whole time. That’s no fun either.
With LASIK, your child can see clearly in and around the water. Not only will they have more fun, they’ll be safer. No more dealing with all the hassles of glasses and contacts. No more squinting without glasses and no more risk of eye infections with contact lenses trapping the bacteria in the water. And no more worrying about packing an extra pair of contact lenses.
Camping – Is it possible to successfully wear and sanitize contact lenses in the wilderness? Yes, but your child would have to pay very close attention to maintaining lens hygiene. That means lugging along all the supplies to clean the lenses, a separate set of backup contact lenses, and a backup pair of glasses. Wearing contacts while camping often results in losing one and not being able to see clearly, developing an eye infection, or having allergens or campfire smoke trapped in the contact lenses. This can cause tearing, swelling, and more problems.
LASIK allows your child to avoid all this stress and enjoy the great outdoors. No more forgetting important items, and no fear of eye infections from not properly caring for contacts. Not worrying about glasses and contacts gives your graduate a life without barriers and a camping trip worth remembering.
Attending Sporting Events – When your child arrives on campus, they’ll be signing up for many new activities and going to sporting events to cheer on their new college team. Shouldn’t they be able to get the best view at the game, in the auditorium, or in the theater?
LASIK can help your graduate see their best,, so they won’t miss a minute dealing with the hassles of glasses and contacts and are able to enjoy all their new college experiences.
The first time they watch a college football game, or any game, after having LASIK will be a memorable one. Whether they are right in the middle of the action or way up in the bleachers, they see detail on the field with more clarity than ever before.
Playing Sports – Does your son or daughter lead an active lifestyle, play sports professionally, or hit the field regularly with friends? They may be playing with a disadvantage because of contacts or glasses. Many studies show a direct correlation between vision and performance – the better the vision, the better the performance.
No matter the sport or the level at which your child participates, this has been proven true and is good news for people who enjoy sports. When it comes to performance and comfort in sports, LASIK is the clear winner over glasses and contact lenses. With LASIK, your child can see better than ever, and there’s nothing standing between them and the best view of their life.
