INTACS corneal rings have been used as a treatment for keratoconus for several years. Although experts have always assumed that INTACS prevent the progression of keratoconus, and decrease the chance of requiring a corneal transplantation, we now have scientific proof. Researchers in France recently published an article in the inter national Journal of Refractive Surgery. They concluded that 92% of eyes with progressive keratoconus did not progress after INTACS segments were implanted. This is a very significant finding and further confirms that INTACS is a beneficial treatment for some patients with keratoconus. (Bedi et. al.
