Kugler Vision Welcomes Dr. Mollie Hiatt, OD

Mollie Hiatt, OD joined the Kugler Vision team on April 6, 2015! She brings with her proven experience and expertise to Kugler Vision in Omaha.

Background

Mollie Hiatt, OD is a native of Grand Island, NE and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from University of Nebraska Omaha and is currently part of the UNO Young Alumni Association. Through this association, she stays connected with UNO. Mollie Hiatt, OD went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University.

She first fell in love with the field during her undergraduate job in an optometry office. Another huge influence in her choosing optometry was growing up with a high prescription and her sister having a genetic eye condition. These life events eventually led her in making the final decision to pursue optometry.

The American Optometric Association (AOA) is an association representing optometrists who serve patients in nearly 6,500 communities across the United States. AOA is a “federation of state that advocates for the profession and serve optometrists in meeting the eye care needs of the public.” Contact lens and cornea section is a nationally recognized segment of AOA. The members are dedicated to serve patients by furthering understanding contact lens and cornea treatment. Sports vision section is a part of AOA as well. Their mission is to “advance the quality and delivery of optometric sports vision care through education, injury prevention and visual enhancement of the visual performance of athletes.” The Nebraska Optometric Association has approximately 240 licensed optometrists throughout the state of Nebraska whose mission is to “improve the quality, availability and accessibility of eye and vision care.”

Personal Hobbies

Mollie Hiatt, OD loves work but enjoys a variety of past time activities. For fun, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing volleyball, and biking. She looks forward to a playing in a sand volleyball league this summer and exploring the Omaha biking trails.

We are excited to have Mollie Hiatt, OD on board at Kugler Vision. She will be contributing her personal expertise to our practice and providing new services for current patients and new. She practices full scope optometry: a primary health care professional for eyes, who examines, diagnoses, treats, and manages eye diseases, injuries, and disorders. Mollie Hiatt, OD also specializes in refractive clinical care and specializes in teen, adolescent, and sports vision.

As an alumni of UNO, she is excited to work with UNO athletes as well as athletes at UNL. Mollie Hiatt, OD is dedicated to utilize technology as it advances to provide the best available patient care. Mollie Hiatt, OD is looking forward to getting started and seeing where her new role at Kugler Vision leads her, getting to know the staff, and providing quality care to patients ages 10 and up! She chose to become a member of the Kugler Vision team because we value utilizing advanced technology and benefiting every patient we come into contact with. She was also very impressed with patient centered culture. Mollie Hiatt, OD was pleased to see this because it is important to her that the patient is comfortable from beginning to end. She also loves Omaha and is excited to settle down in the area.

Additionally, Dr. Kugler is proud to be a Board Certified Fellow of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences. Dr. Kugler and his wife are proud parents to five active kids. When he has a spare moment, he enjoys skiing, tennis, travel, and fine coffee.
