Kugler Vision Volunteers at OneSight Vision to Provide Vision Care to Underprivileged Omaha Public School Students

Kugler Vision’s leading Optometrist Mollie Hiatt, OD and a few of the Kugler Vision Team will volunteer for the OneSight Regional Clinic in Omaha to deliver vision care directly to Omaha Public School Students who are in need.

What is OneSight?

OneSight partners with leading optical experts to help those in need of vision care. Access to vision care empowers families to meet their basic needs without strain on their time or budget, the Omaha community to provide quality vision care for local people, by local people, and everyone to take the next big step in advancing their quality of life.

In 2016, 650 Omaha Public School students received free vision screenings, comprehensive eye exams and glasses. Providing school-based access to follow-up vision care is an important priority. Students with failed vision screenings will have the opportunity to receive a comprehensive eye exam and glasses.

Students who need vision exams have barriers such as lack of insurance, transportation or language. The free exams will give these students the opportunity to have their vision tested and be given the correct prescription glasses that they need.

How Does Vision Impact Learning?

Vision is important to a child’s education. Vision and learning go hand in hand. According to OneSight, eighty percent of learning is visual, yet one in four students in the United States has an undiagnosed vision problem significant enough to impair their academic performance. Clear vision empowers

  • students to be twice as effective at school
  • employees to be 35% more productive at work and earn up to 20% more per year
  • each of us to deepen our connection to the people and the world around us

We recognize the importance to be involved and help bring awareness about vision care to our community. This is why we partner with Building Healthy Futures and OneSight to impact academic achievement by providing free vision screenings and care to students.

One of the most important tests students will take won’t be in the classroom – it’s their eye exam!

Good vision is essential for students of all ages in order to reach their full academic potential. We are proud to have helped provide the needed vision care to the children in Omaha and support OneSight and Building Healthy Futures in 2016 and now in 2017.
